The Vice Minister got acquainted with the scientific centers of KazNU

As part of her working trip to Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education Dinara Shcheglova got acquainted with the work of key university facilities. In particular, she visited the Earth Remote Sensing Center, the Farabi Hub Center for Innovative Products and High-tech Projects, as well as a supercomputer cluster.

During the visit, special attention was paid to the Farabi Hub Center, whose potential was noted as an effective platform for developing innovations and establishing cooperation between scientists, entrepreneurs and students. The Farabi Hub Center for Innovative Products and High-tech Projects was built in 2024 to mark the university's 90th anniversary. The area of the center is five thousand square meters, where projects in the field of creative industry, artificial intelligence and startups are being implemented. The centers of ZTE, Bin lin Electronic Technology, BASF Corporation and other foreign companies recognized in the world in the field of telecommunications and information technology production, as well as research institutes are located here.

The Vice Minister was also presented with the most powerful supercomputer installed in the Treasury. The high performance of the device is 2 thousand teraflops. The supercomputer is included in the list of the 600 best supercomputers in the world and is used to collect data in the fields of artificial intelligence technologies, oil and gas, energy, agriculture, remote sensing of the Earth and 3D modeling.

In addition, Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education Dinara Shcheglova was shown the work of the Kazakh-Chinese joint laboratory "Technologies and applications of Remote sensing of the Earth". The Center monitors natural disasters, water shortages, droughts, soil infertility, floods and earthquakes in the region caused by climate change in Central Asia.

The Vice Minister's visit highlights the priority of science and innovation development in the higher education system.
