Al-Farabi Kazakh National University has once again confirmed its status as a leader in the field of sustainable development, maintaining its position in the Top 401-600 best universities in the world according to the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025 (THE IR).

The University has demonstrated significant progress in achieving a number of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which demonstrates its commitment to the principles and strategy of sustainable development and its contribution to addressing global challenges.

In particular, KazNU maintained its positions on SDG 2 – "Zero Hunger" and SDG 8 – "Decent work and economic growth", as it did last year. A significant breakthrough was made on SDG 3 – "Good health and well-being": the university rose from 601-800 to 201-300 places.

Positive dynamics is also observed for SDG 4 – "Quality education", where the university showed growth from 801-1000 to 601-800, and for SDG 9 – "Industrialization, innovation and infrastructure" – from 401-600 to 301-400. An increase in indicators was also recorded for SDG 10 – "Reduced inequalities" (an increase from 401-600 to 301-400).  

According to SDG 11 – "Sustainable cities and communities" and SDG 13 – "Climate action", the university maintained its positions in the range of 401-600. The University has also made progress on SDG 16 – "Peace, justice and strong institutions" and has achieved good indicators – growth from 401-600 to 301-400.

Participation in THE Impact Rankings, which evaluates more than 2,000 universities around the world, allows KazNU to demonstrate its achievements in the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The University is steadily developing scientific research, educational programs, social initiatives and partnerships aimed at creating a sustainable future.

KazNU's high positions in THE Impact Rankings 2025 confirm the effectiveness of the university's strategy focused on applying knowledge to address the global challenges of our time.
