Partnership with Singapore has reached a new level

Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, met with a delegation of the Singapore Scientific Center. The parties discussed ways to develop mutually beneficial cooperation based on the implementation of the Almaty Children's Science Museum project.
Welcoming the distinguished guests, the head of the educational institution, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, noted important achievements in strengthening bilateral cooperation. In 2024, Singapore's total investments in the economy of Kazakhstan exceeded $1.7 billion, and in 2023, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $1.8 billion. He also noted that it is important that both sides ratify the intergovernmental agreement on protection and promotion of investments. During an official visit to Singapore in May 2024, the Rector of KazNU took part in the forum of rectors of Kazakhstan and Singapore and reviewed areas of joint cooperation in the field of science and higher education.
In addition, the rector noted KazNU's status as a leading research university in the world. The university successfully has 16 faculties and 8 research institutes, 140 scientific laboratories and 29 research centers. The Rector also stressed the importance of the university's supercomputer cluster, which will reach 2,000 teraflops in performance. The launch of the Farabi HUB innovation center will turn scientific ideas into high-tech products. The Rector thanked the delegation for the visit and expressed confidence in the continued success of the partnership between KazNU and the Children's Science Museum of Almaty.
The President of the National Academy of Sciences of Singapore, Lim Tit Meng, in turn, delivered a congratulatory speech on behalf of the delegation and noted the achievements of the academy. The National Academy of Sciences of Singapore (NUS) was founded in 1967. It unites the leading scientific societies of the country. The Academy promotes the development of science and technology, supports scientific cooperation, and recognizes achievements in the natural sciences. The President of the Academy also expressed interest in strengthening further cooperation with KazNU.
Following a constructive meeting between the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Almaty Children's Science Museum, an agreement was reached on a strategic partnership in the field of scientific education and popularization of STEM fields among youth and children. This cooperation opens up new horizons for the synergy of science, education and culture and will become an important contribution to the development of the scientific potential of the younger generation of Kazakhstan.
