KazNU keeps a focus on the new demands of the time

The results of the summer examination session of the 2024-25 academic year were presented at the Academic Council of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Alina Galeeva, a member of the Board and Vice–Rector for Academic Affairs, made a report on this issue.

 

In her speech, she highlighted the exam statistics in detail, highlighted the most successful areas of specialist training, and analyzed areas that require special attention in the coming academic year. The Vice-Rector also spoke about new approaches to the organization of the examination process aimed at improving the objectivity of assessment and motivation of students. A draft resolution was announced for the deans of faculties and heads of departments on the study of modern methods of analyzing academic performance, the use of learning analytics and proposals for adapting programs to the identified issues. The co-speaker was Dosbol Baigunakov, Dean of the Faculty of History, who shared his experience in introducing innovative teaching methods and knowledge assessment.

At the Academic Council, Gulzira Vasilina, Director of the Center for Strategic Development, presented an analysis of the results of the international ratings QS WUR and THE IR 2025, as well as the results of the indicative plan and rating of teachers, departments and faculties for the 2024-25 academic year. She elaborated on measures to improve KazNU's position in international rankings, outlined key areas of development, priority projects and strategic goals of the university for the coming years. To promote herself in the THE and QS ratings, the speaker prepared a draft resolution for the heads of structural divisions and faculties.

Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, noted that in order to increase its position in the QS ranking, the university needs to review and adapt existing strategies in accordance with modern requirements. Every change in the university's activities affects its rating and image as a research center. The Rector instructed departments and faculties to develop a roadmap for promoting the university in the international arena and prepare an indicative action plan focused on the new requirements of the QS rating.

During the meeting of the Academic Council in honor of the Day of Media Workers, teachers of the Faculty of Journalism and the anniversaries were awarded medals and letters of thanks.
